On December 30, 2018, The Daily Progress published a report titled, "Charlottesville Police Department seeing a 'mass exodus'. The report noted multiple reasons that police officers were fleeing employment in the city of Charlottesville. Among the stated reasons was a claim that police officers are under-appreciated and "routinely verbally assaulted" per Chief of Police and mega change agent RaShall Brackney. Charlottesville revises previous press release, walks back claims...

I do not know if this has ever happened before, but the city of Charlottesville revised a previous press release and walked back claims last evening related to an ongoing controversy regarding the newly formed Civilian Review Board. Read the previous press release below.  The dust up revolves around the Chief of Police, Dr. RaShall Brackney having the willingness and time to meet with members of the Civilian Review Board. I suggested late last week that someone who isn't being banned from submitting a Freedom of Information Act request as I am submit a request for Brackney's schedule from now through July.  I am told by a source that a FOIA Request has already been submitted seeking that very schedule. It is unclear at this time if the release of the Chief's schedule and availability played any role in the revised press release, nor is it known who crafted the new release.
